training

our training services

Does your pup need some extra guidance? We have private and group training programs in place to help you and your pup build a more harmonious life together. Training isn’t just about teaching the pup skills and behaviours, it is equally important that owners build strong foundation skills in training their pups on the daily to shape and maintain desired behaviours from their pups.

We offer 1-on-1 training sessions, group training sessions, and training consultation.

1/3

1-on-1 training

advantages of 1-on-1 training

  • Your pup will build fluency on basic skills both in the house and at parks s/he frequently visits

  • Custom training module to address your specific needs — for example, specific behaviours you would like to shape

  • It’s convenient! You have the option of coming along or to catch up on some work while your pup is in the training sessions

  • You have the trainer’s undivided attention

  • You have access to the trainer’s 24/7 support if you encounter any issues or have any questions, even after the training sessions are completed

  • The trainer will work directly with you to provide you with training modules and activities to continue shaping and maintaining the behaviours your pups have learned

  • Free Zoom consultation and Meet and Greet prior to service, including an exploration-based enrichment exercise to help dog(s) explore and investigate the space they will be training at, to ensure they are not displaying Fear, Anxiety, or Stress signals

what to expect and what’s included

  • Both indoor and outdoor training components

  • Option to have the training sessions at the comfort of your own home (available on a case-by-case basis)

  • 30-minute Zoom consultation prior to training sessions

  • Treats, tug toys, and other training equipment will be provided unless you wish to provide your own

  • Custom training activities will be provided and sent to you after each training session. Remember that keeping up with the training on your own is essential to maintain learned behaviours and building success!

  • A program summary will be sent to you after the completion of the training sessions

  • The last session will be done together with you so you can have some hands-on practice with the training activities we’ve worked on together

group training

advantages of group training

The Group Training program will have 5 classes over the span of 5 weeks

  • Good opportunity to build on fluency with a lot of distraction around. Please note that not all pups are suited for training in group settings — if your pups display any Fear, Anxiety, or Stress signals, 1-on-1 training may be a more suitable option for the health and safety of your pup

  • There is usually at least a week’s time in between the training classes — that’s a lot of time for you to work with your pup on the skills that were shaped and practiced during the previous class!

  • Training activities and modules will be provided

  • You have access to the trainer’s 24/7 support if you encounter any issues or have any questions

  • Great chance to network with other paw-rents, whether it be learning about their training journey or setting up doggy hangouts if your pups get along well!

  • Accommodations can be made if you have special requests or need to reschedule a class

what to expect and what’s included

  • Training activities will be provided and sent to you 1 day before each class, so you can go over what will be taught to you and your pup for the upcoming session and prepare for it! It will also include if you need to bring anything such as a mat or a target

  • A summary will be sent to you after the completion of the training program, outlining all the different skills we have shaped and trained for throughout the sessions

  • There will be interactive activities in the classes involving all the pups to work together

  • The trainer will “make the rounds” during group training sessions to help you individually if you have any questions

virtual coaching sessions

training course for dedicated pawrents

building foundamental skills with training activities included

virtual coaching vs. private training sessions

  • Virtual coaching sessions may be the option for you if

    • You want to be more hands-on with training your dog(s) and simply need some additional guidance

    • You are working on “normal problem behaviours” (i.e., barking, destructive behaviour, jumping, mouthing, separation anxiety, crate training, reactivity etc.) and in need of desensitization protocols

    • You are looking for a more budget-friendly option

  • Similar to private training, number of virtual coaching sessions and training modules provided depends on your training goals

    • 2 consultations + desensitization protocol

    • 2 consultations + 3 custom training modules

    • 3 consultations + 5 custom training modules

    • 5 consultations + 7 custom training modules

    • Additional consultations can be added at an additional fee

  • Consultation will be completely online. There are no in-person sessions included

what to expect and what’s included

  • Free 30-minute Zoom consultation to discuss your training goals

  • Custom training activities or desensitization protocols will be provided based on your specific training goals and needs (see above)

  • It’s convenient and flexible! Consultation will be completely online with no in-person sessions. In a way, it is a training course for the pawrents. Remember that consistent training is essential to setting our pups up for success!

  • During the consultation (Zoom sessions), the trainer is there to answer any questions you have, any troubleshooting with the activities, and review some activities together

  • You have access to the trainer’s 24/7 support if you encounter any issues or have any questions, even after the training sessions are completed

  • The trainer will work directly with you to provide you with training modules and feedback to continue shaping and maintaining the behaviours your pups have learned

Next steps

safety is our top priority

We understand that leaving your pup with us takes huge amount of trust and ensuring the pups’ safety is our number one priority above all else.

pet first aid

All our staff are Pet First Aid certified and are thereby certified to perform CPR and other emergency first aid in the event that your pup gets hurt or injured, whether it be a minor or major injury. We will also have a First Aid kit with us at all times including a plank for transportation in emergency situations.

to ensure safety during 1-on-1 training

Appropriate safety gear including front-clip harnesses and leashes will be provided if needed. We carry a 44oz dog water bottle with us at all times to ensure that your pup is hydrated as they explore new places! We also have GPS trackers ready-to-use for the pup while under our care, in case of any unforeseen situation.

to ensure safety for group training

We will monitor for Fear, Anxiety, and/or Stress signals during group training to ensure that all pups are comfortable and Fear Free. Remember that no learning occurs when the pup is stressed! Please note that not all pups are suited for training in group settings — if your pups display any Fear, Anxiety, or Stress signals, 1-on-1 training may be a more suitable option for the health and safety of your pup

other safety protocols

We require a Meet and Greet and a signed Service Agreement prior to admittance into our programs. This is to ensure the safety of your pup and the whole pack.
